Date Night – Movies

Thanks to Erasmo Cortez for his guest post.

Do you and your husband or long term boyfriend have standing date nights that you keep on the calendar to make things more fun and interesting and to make sure that you don’t lose the spark in your relationship? I do this with my husband and I’m going to be honest, sometimes date night rolls around and we both look at each other and really don’t want to put forth the effort to do it. We kind of sigh and roll our eyes and say, “come on let’s get this over with.” I think on one hand it is kind of sad but on the other hand we are just so comfortable with each other that we can feel okay with not wanting to go on a date sometimes. I decided on the last date night when it was my turn that we would take the kids to their grandparent’s for the night and we were going to watch marathon movies on Direct.TV while eating junk food and lounging on the couch kid free, it was awesome!

Walgreens and Express Scripts

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you are a customer of Walgreens and Express Script, then more than likely you have heard that Walgreens was negotiating with Easy Scripts and came to a decision to offer discounts and other perks for their customers.  I’m sure the idea of losing customers was a concern with Walgreens, but I’m glad to see they decided to do what they could do for their customers.   Times are a little tough right now and any savings on our health care is a bonus and I think Walgreens is supporting this for their customers.

Here is what Walgreens plans to do for their customers.  A special discount in January for Express Scripts members on the annual membership fee for  Walgreens Prescription Savings Club; a boost to Walgreen’s pharmacist and consultant staff, including adding call-center personnel; contacting high-volume patients; and offering coupons for discounted health and wellness products and gift cards to some Express Scripts members. I love coupons!!

For $10 a year, a family membership covers everyone in your immediate family, including a spouse, dependents 22 and younger and pets. Individuals may join for $5. Join and receive discount prices on your prescriptions.  This sounds like a great deal for a family and much savings.

These savings can add up on more than 8,000 brand name and generic prescriptions, flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies.

Show your support, like I have,  with Walgreens on Twitter and Walgreens on Facebook

Jimmy Dean Breakfast Casserole

I really love the Breakfast Casserole that I make for Christmas morning. I know alot of you have had it before and I will share the recipe with you below. This is a great casserole for a brunch too.  Easy to make ahead!

Jimmy Dean Breakfast Casserole

1 pkg.Regular Flavor Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage
10 eggs, lightly beaten
3 cups milk
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
6 cups cubed bread
2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
1 medium tomato, seeded and chopped (optional)

1/2 cup thin-sliced green onions (optional)Preheat oven to 325 F. In large skillet, cook sausage over medium-high heat, stirring frequently until thoroughly cooked and no longer pink. In large mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, mustard and salt; stir well. Distribute half the bread evenly in a buttered 9? x 13? x 2? baking dish. Sprinkle with half the pepper, half the cheese, half the sausage and half of each optional ingredient. Repeat layering using remaining bread, pepper, cheese, sausage and optional ingredients. Pour egg mixture evenly over casserole. Bake uncovered for 55-60 minutes, or until eggs are set. Tent with foil if top begins to brown too quickly.

Note:

May be assembled ahead and refrigerated up to 12 hours before baking.

MY VERSION: I always make it the night before and put it in the fridge. It seems to cook better the next day. I don’t put all the optional items on the top.

Be sure to check out the Coupon Database to find coupons to make this recipe.

Suburgatory

The article written by Alonso Kramer

One of my favorite new shows on TV this season is Suburgatory. It chronicles the life of a single dad and his daughter who move to the suburbs in a moment of over-protective parenting. What happens from there is completely hilarious. All of the kids are generic and vapid, and the parents are no better. On a recent episode for Thanksgiving, one of the mother/daughter combos hosted a “Founders or Feathers” dinner, where each guest was required to dress as either a Native American or Pilgrim. The only catch? Both the Native Americans and Pilgrims were dressed very scantily. The dinner was a disaster, as the entire group ended up arguing at the table and most of the guests ended up leaving in a huff. It was hysterical. It reminded me of pretty much every family gathering in my family…ever, really. Minus the scantily dressed dinner guests, that is. I’m so glad this show came on this season. Definitely check out Direct Star TV to see when it comes on locally and tune in. You won’t be sorry.
